Hot chocolate

This morning Dave ran a 5K in 20-degree weather, so I thought we could use a little warming up when we got home. I made Ina Garten's hot chocolate from her first Barefoot Contessa Cookbook.

Hot chocolate differs from hot cocoa in the form of the chocolate: cocoa is powdered, whereas hot chocolate is chocolate melted in milk or cream. This particular hot chocolate recipe contains this delicious mix of ingredients:
  • Milk
  • Half and half
  • Bittersweet chocolate
  • Milk chocolate
  • Vanilla
  • Sugar
  • Coffee
  • Cinnamon
I made a few substitutions - powdered cinnamon for cinnamon sticks, and Kahlua for coffee. But it turned out delicious just the same:

It was very warming! I need to try her white hot chocolate, which also looked delicious.
