Spicy buttermilk coffee cake

This weekend I made a tasty coffee cake to take to my parents' house for Easter. It makes two of them, so we will probably be eating our extra one for breakfast for the next week. (So, in future, I need to remember to give one away!)

This is a pretty simple coffee cake, though it gets some tang from the buttermilk and spices (cinnamon and nutmeg). It is a very flaky coffee cake with a nice streusel on top.


You're supposed to do the streusel with chopped nuts, but I used sunflower seeds to great success. That only leaves a few coffee cakes left in my bread challenge!
